About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lodge General Manager to oversee the pre-opening and full operational management of a luxury 5-star lodge in Tanzania. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader with a strong background in remote lodge operations, particularly in game reserves and or island environments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational, leadership, and hospitality skills to deliver an exceptional guest experience while maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the lodge’s pre-opening phase, including infrastructure setup, staff recruitment, and operational implementation.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for guest services, sustainability, and overall lodge operations.
  • Build, train, and oversee a highly skilled team to ensure seamless and high-standard hospitality service.
  • Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, suppliers, and conservation partners.
  • Ensure the lodge operates in compliance with local laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and cost control to optimize profitability while maintaining luxury service standards.
  • Implement and uphold strict standards for guest experiences, food and beverage offerings, housekeeping, and maintenance.
  • Drive marketing and sales initiatives to position the lodge as a top-tier destination.
  • Engage in community outreach and sustainable tourism initiatives to create a positive impact in the region.
  • Handle crisis management and problem-solving in a remote and challenging environment.

Requirements:

  • Extensive 5-star lodge/hotel management experience, preferably in remote or isolated locations.
  • Proven success in pre-opening projects, with the ability to develop and implement operational frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
  • Exceptional financial acumen, including budgeting, revenue generation, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of conservation, sustainability practices, and community engagement in an eco-lodge setting.
  • Outstanding guest relations skills and a passion for delivering world-class hospitality.
  • Ability to thrive in an isolated environment while maintaining high energy and enthusiasm.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and resilience in remote operations.
  • Experience working in Africa or similar remote luxury settings is highly advantageous.
